These swords were produced by Joseon's sword artisans living on hansando, Tae Gwiyeon and Yi Mu-saeng, in April 1594. Admiral Yi used to brace himself while looking at these swords with always hanging them on the wall.
The words inscribed on each in Admiral Yi's own handwriting are as follows; "As I swear by Heaven with a sword three feet long, earth and sky are shaken. As I brandish it and cut the air, mountain and river get red with blood."
